DESCRIPTION

The Fiat 500 originally debuted in 1957 and it was produced successfully until 1975 in Italy. The car was originally designed by Dante Giacosa and Centro Stile FIAT.

This particular model is a 1975 R where "R" stands for Rinnovata (Renewed), 1975 was the last production year for this little iconic Fiat.  The engine on this model was the biggest, with a displacement of 594 cc, giving the car increased torque and more pulling power and fluidity. The transmission in this particular example is a 4-speed syncromesh . The 500 R was the last model before the Fiat 126 which ended up replacing the 500 in the mid 70s.
 

EXTERIOR

According to the last owner the car received a full repaint about 10 years ago in a very interesting and beautiful metallic gold. Car Paint is in overall good condition. There are some areas that are peeling (see photos) There are some minor scratches, touch ups and little imperfections in a few spots. Considering the age and the everyday usage of the car, everything is holding pretty well. This is not a concours edition Fiat 500 and it is not priced as such. This is a great, fun and enjoyable daily driver that has been used correctly, mantained and enjoyed. It can be personalized to your taste and enhanced once it gest into your hands!

All doors, trunk, hood are all aligned like they should.

No recorded accidents and no visible damage or repaired damage/accident as far as we can tell.
No major dents, no major rips in the front and rear bumper. Rear bumper is brand new. 

Chassis and wheel wells are all rust free.

The undercarriage and the floor pans are in great shape with no rust. No abnormal tar or oil traces and it is a naturally rust free undercarriage from a southern-European car.

The roof is clean and in great shape. All glass and rubber is in near perfect shape, no chips or cracks on the windshield.

All lights have been tested and all work

Car has been garaged most of its life and it shows.
This Fiat 500 is 46 y.o. Please do not have unreasonable expectations.

 

INTERIOR

The car interior is in great shape for the age and mileage. It is a fun, simple interior, reminiscent of a simpler motoring era.

All components inside are present, nothing is missing, broken or damaged. Horn cap has been ordered and will be replaced before delivery. All controls and switches are individually tested and are all in perfect working order.

The dashboard has no cracks and/or dings. Some regular use light scuffs are obviously present. All cluster and dashboard lights are tested and work correctly.

This 500 R features black vinyl front and rear seats. All seats are in perfect working condition, free of rips and tears and they all have been professionally vacuumed, dry cleaned with specific car upholstery cleaning products and plastic covered for extra protection until delivery. Newly installed rubber floor mats (not pictured, already ordered)

Headliner is clean and in great shape. Sunroof/Ragtop is free of rips and opens and closes perfectly

Steering wheel is in very good shape.

All door panels are in phenomenal shape for the age, No major cracks no tears, no rips, no broken plastics or anything on any of the 2 panels. Please expect some minor imperfections. They all have been cleaned and detailed. All door jams have been cleaned, detailed and greased.

All manual windows and manual lock options work.

 

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power comes from the 594 cm3 In-line Forced Air cooled 2-cylinder.
Although 18HP might not sound like much by today's standards they all feel there on this nimble little 500 weighing a mere 1,800 lbs.

Engine starts beautifully and the sound of this Classic Fiat 2-cylinder engine is always great music to our ears. Idling speed is correct. The car accelerates smoothly, no engine knocks or hesitation of any sort while the 4-speed manual transmission gets into forward and rear gears perfectly. It follows gear changes as it should and does its job correctly. This Fiat 500 has a 4-speed syncromesh transmission installed. No unusual front or rear noises at all.
The engine compartment shows no signs of damaged, missing or displaced parts. Minimal oil leaks are to be expected on this soon to be 50 years old car.

New fuel pump and fule filter recently installed

Battery has been tested and it is working/recharging flawlessly.

The car will receive a final full inspection service before leaving Italy by a specialized local Fiat mechanic.

WHEELS, TIRES & BRAKES

Stock tire sizes are 125mm on 12 inch steel wheels. The previous owner preferred the previous L-F series wheel style and therefore proceeded to replace them. Tires are less than a few months old.

This Fiat 500 has a braking system that incorporates front drums and rear drums. Front and rear drums cleaned and inspected. New rear brake shoes have just been replaced.

Car drives very well and it is a pleasure to scoot around in. It is a tiny but very functional car. This car is easy to drive, easy to fix, easy to love! As most of you knows the maintenance on this Fiat 500 is very simple. There are no complicated electronics. Parts are very reasonably priced and can be easily found online.
